Brothers to represent Scotland
SCOTTISH Athletics this week announced their national team for the Celtic Games in Swansea on Saturday.
Brothers Paddy and Finbar Dunne have both been selected to represent their country at this event. Paddy has been chosen for the men’s under-18 javelin competition and Finbar has been selected for the boys’ under-16 discus.
Only one athlete per event is chosen and the recent success of both boys this season has earned them a place on the team. This is a fantastic opportunity and gives all athletes involved the chance to compete at international level in their teens.
For Paddy, this follows on from representing Scotland at the schools international in Kent earlier in July when he won a bronze medal. Both boys also took part in the youth games in Gothenburg at the end of June, with Finbar coming home with a bronze medal.
The boys will be travelling to Swansea this week with the national team, accompanied by Inverness Harriers lead throws coach Duncan Flockhart, who has been appointed throws coach to the national team.
Finbar and Paddy Dunne will represent Scotland at the Celtic Games in Swansea.
