Project aims to attract carers

AN INNOVATIVE project in Appin will get under way this year with the aim of attracting home carers to the area.

A social enterprise will be set up, which will see carers being paid the living wage and work within set boundaries.

At the Oban and Lorn Health and Care Forum this week, a member of the public said: ‘ If they don’t have to pay their staff to travel, they would be able to pay their staff more, which is a good thing for the community.’

Interviews for a co- ordinator will take place later this month and it’s hoped the project will be up and running in September.
