Get your map for annual art trail
ARTISTS from throughout Argyll came together for the launch of the 2016 Artmap Open Studios directory – the definitive guide to the Red Dot Studio Trail.
Now in its ninth year, Artmap’s Open Studio event is one of the highlights of the Argyll art lover’s year, also drawing in and engaging many of those who are simply curious.
Chairman of the Artmap board, Christopher Cox said: ‘Our vision is to ensure that Argyll is recognised as a vibrant, creative hub.
‘Our annual Red Dot Studio Trail is Argyll’s premier visual arts event and last year we had more than 5,600 studio visits resulting in £47,000 worth of sales – providing a huge boost to the local economy.’
To showcase the 48 Argyll artists involved in the event, Artmap has produced a 72-page colour brochure with artists’ statements, contact details and detailed directions to their studios. The directories are available free from venues and shops throughout the area.
Mr Cox continued: ‘Whether your interests focus on painting, sculpture, glass, digital art, textiles, wood or willow, you could do no better than to beat a path to open doors where you will be assured of a warm welcome and rich experience within each unique space.’
The Artmap Open Studios event will run for four days from August 26-29.
