Dutch stu­dents visit Mull firm

THE Scot­tish Salmon Com­pany (SSC) has wel­comed six stu­dents from the Nether­lands to the Isle of Mull to give them hands- on ex­pe­ri­ence of the aqua­cul­ture in­dus­try.

Aged be­tween 18 and 25, the stu­dents are spend­ing two weeks on SSC’s Ulva Ferry site to put their learn­ing in to prac­tice. Un­der the guid­ance of SSC staff, the group has been as­sist­ing with daily ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing fish health checks and net wash­ing, gain­ing valu­able hands- on ex­pe­ri­ence.

Craig An­der­son, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor at SSC, said: ‘ This is the first time the stu­dents have been ex­posed to an op­er­a­tional en­vi­ron­ment. We recog­nise the im­por­tance of sup­port­ing fu­ture tal­ent for the in­dus­try and show­cas­ing the di­verse op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able across the sec­tor.’
