Toxin lev­els rise in Loch Striven

AR­GYLL and Bute Coun­cil’s en­vi­ron­men­tal health team, work­ing with Food Stan­dards Scot­land, is is­su­ing a warn­ing on raised lev­els of shell­fish tox­ins in Loch Striven.

Th­ese are nat­u­rally oc­cur­ring tox­ins which ac­cu­mu­late in shell­fish such as mus­sels, oys­ters and cock­les. When the tox­ins breach statu­tory lim­its, har­vest­ing is not al­lowed.
