Young me­chan­ics take up new jobs

THE HIGH­LAND Coun­cil has com­pleted a re­cruit­ment drive for ap­pren­tice me­chan­ics.

More than 250 ap­pli­ca­tions were re­ceived and nine new ap­pren­tices have started their four-year train­ing pro­gramme.

The ap­pren­tices will be based in Wick, Brora, In­ver­ness, Skye, Aviemore and Fort Wil­liam.

Coun­cil­lor Al­lan Hen­der­son, chair­man of the High­land Coun­cil’s Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Com­mit­tee, con­grat­u­lated the suc­cess­ful can­di­dates and wished them well in their new roles. Kai Camp­bell and Kyle Demp­ster have started their ap­pren­tice­ship in Fort Wil­liam and Calum Ma­cLeod has be­gun train­ing in Skye.
