Grass cut­ting cost un­der scru­tiny

GRASS- CUT­TING ser­vices across the High­lands are be­ing re­viewed.

The cur­rent cost of pro­vid­ing th­ese ser­vices is £2.393mil­lion, in­cluded in an over­all grounds High­land Coun­cil main­te­nance bud­get of £4.2mil­lion.

Fol­low­ing an agree­ment on Au­gust 18, a pa­per is set to go to the High­land Coun­cil’s com­mu­nity ser­vice com­mit­tee to­day (Thurs­day Novem­ber 3) rec­om­mend­ing changes. Op­tions be­ing looked at are in-house pro­vi­sion, full pri­vati­sa­tion and a mixed ser­vice. It has al­ready been agreed grass cut­ting in Skye and Lochalsh will be de­liv­ered in-house.
