NEWS that the hospital in Oban is to be able to give pregnant women ultrasound scans once three new posts are filled next year sparked a lot of comment. Yvonne MacLean posted: ‘About time! It’s scandalous that appropriate services for pregnant women is not available at the moment in Oban.’

Julia Race agreed: ‘How can you have a maternity unit without an ultrasound scanner, that’s disgraceful, it’s not the 1950s.’ Sophie Maccoll asked: ‘ What happened to the ones the used to have? there still qualified ultrasound staff up there is there not?’ Katrina Morrison questioned: ‘About time ... Wot happened to the one they had tho.’ Rita Hargey added: ‘ What about the CT Scan? It’s a costly piece of equipment... with no experienced professional that knows how it work it... it just collects dust while we have to travel back & forth to the city... its a disgrace!’ Jacqueline Douglas wrote: ‘Now that’s good news for Oban.’ Marie Archer said: ‘Not before time!’ Susan Summers queried: ‘ Why did they take away the one they had?’ Susan Jean posted: ‘ You mean they don’t have one! Help!’
