Morgan’s a big hit

A BALLACHULISH boxer ‘gave as good as he got’ when he competed at the Scottish Novice Championship.

Morgan Lawrence, of Claymores Amateur Boxing Club, Kinlochleven, fought at the novice championships on October 22 in Motherwell.

The schoolboy fought in the 46kgs category against Callam Slater from Doomhamers Boxing Club, Dumfries.

Callum is the current Western District schoolboy champion and with lots of experience under his belt it was a tough contest for Lochaber’s Morgan.

A club spokesperson said: ‘Morgan gave as good as he got throughout a thrilling bout. He never took a step back and showed good movement and technical skill.

‘Unfortunately the Doonhamers lad was just too strong and experienced for Morgan and he took the judges decision at the end of the three rounds.’
