Violent man attacked partner

The Oban Times - - NEWS -

A VIOLENT man who assaulted his partner was sentenced to 13 months in prison this week.

The jail term was imposed after he pleaded guilty during a hearing at Oban Sheriff Court on Monday to seizing his partner, sending threatening texts and kicking his partner on her head.

Andrei Tsilikin, of no fixed abode, attacked his partner on more than three occasions, two of which were while he was on bail. The attacks took place on April 1, July 27 and October 10.

Tsilikin, 33, told the court that he was ‘genuinely shocked’ to hear of the ways by which he had assaulted his partner as he was drunk at the time.

Defence agent Laura McManus told Sheriff Ruth An- derson QC that the catalysts for arguments between the couple were always alcohol fuelled.

While in prison on remand, he had been getting help to deal with his addiction, Mrs McManus explained.

Sheriff Anderson said: ‘If you don’t do something about the drink you are going to kill yourself or someone else.’
