Lochaber pupils get down to busi­ness in en­ter­prise ‘den’

LOCHABER pupils got a taste of set­ting up their own busi­nesses last week.

Teams from Kin­lochleven and Mal­laig High Schools were tak­ing part in Young En­ter­prise Scot­land High­land and Mo­ray Area’s ver­sion of TV’s Dragon’s Den at Nairn Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, pitch­ing their idea for prod­ucts to a panel of lo­cal busi­ness peo­ple.

‘Mu­gan­ised’ from Kin­lochleven High School was awarded £60 for its plans for dec­o­rated mugs and plates while Mal­laig’s Tailored to Tar­tan picked up £70 for its pro­posed hand­made tar­tan cush­ions.

Linda Thomas, chair­woman of YES High­land and Mo­ray said: ‘Our dragons were par­tic­u­larly im­pressed with the en­thu­si­asm, pro­fes­sional pre­sen­ta­tions and in­no­va­tive prod­uct ideas from the young peo­ple tak­ing part this year.’
