THE NOVEM­BER meet­ing of the Kil­bran­don branch of the Scot­tish Women’s In­sti­tute was held on Tues­day Novem­ber 1 in Seil Is­land Hall.

Vice pres­i­dent Shona Neil wel­comed 25 mem­bers and in­tro­duced the guest speaker for the evening, Sea­mus An­der­son, a lo­cal farmer, ac­com­pa­nied by his two dogs.

Dur­ing the in­for­ma­tive evening mem­bers learned about the farm­ing year in re­la­tion to cows and sheep.

Sea­mus shared his knowl­edge of pro­phy­lac­tic treat­ment, lamb­ing and calv­ing, mark­ing, feed­ing and much more while en­ter­tain­ing mem­bers with anec­dotes about his life as a farmer. It was a suc­cess­ful evening which ended with a raf­fle fea­tur­ing prizes of sausages, burg­ers and mut­ton do­nated by Sea­mus.
