Ewan wins New Year’s day race

A TO­TAL of 123 run­ners turned out on New Year’s day to take part in Lochaber Ath­let­ics Club’s (LAC) first race of 2017.

There were ‘ideal con­di­tions’ on Sun­day for the Aonach Mor up­hill race where Lochaber’s Ewan Thor­burn was the first male home in a time of 22:37.

He was fol­lowed by Ochil Hill Run­ners Alis­dair An­thony in 23:20 and Alis­tair Hodges of Cam­bridge and Co­leridge Ath­let­ics Club in 23:49.

The first fe­male home was Sula Gay, Hunter Bog Trot­ters, in a time of 27:24. In sec­ond place was Morag MacClel­land, Hunter Bog Trot­ters, in 29:30, who was closely fol­lowed by El­iz­a­beth Adams, Westies, in 29:46. A spokesper­son for LAC said: ‘Well done to ev­ery­one who took part and mas­sive thanks to or­gan­is­ers, mar­shalls and time­keep­ers Cor­rina, Cammy, Ian, El­iz­a­beth, Rhona, Aileen, Elaine any oth­ers I may have missed and Ne­vis Range and spon­sors Run4it, Cotswolds and Vicki An­der­son.
