Balmy conditions for annual Glenfinnan dip

The Oban Times - - Leisure -

IT WAS one of the warmest Glenfinnan dips to date as 37 people waded in Loch Shiel on New Year’s day at a balmy 7° C.

The event, which is in its thirteenth year, was attended by lots of spectators and swimmers from as far afield as London, Liverpool and Aberdeen.

People took to the water at noon, in front of the Glenfinnan House Hotel, with some taking on a full swim while others dipped straight in and out.

Nice day

Morag Hughes, who has taken part in the dip for the last 13 years, told The Oban Times: ‘It’s such a nice day with lots of people taking part and spectating.

‘Lots of people just come to watch and enjoy the fun.

‘This year we had lots of children there, with some two-year- olds just paddling in their wellies.’
