New Year with gusto

The Oban Times - - Letters -

Sir, As a regular visitors to Oban, my wife and I have, in the past, been disappointed in the decline in the way the town marked the Bells, especially the contribution (or lack of it!) by the CalMac ferries and Northern Lighthouse vessel, which at one time sounded in the New Year with gusto.

However this year we must say things were much improved. The fireworks were superb and the ships horns gave a much more enthusiastic fanfare.

Thank you Oban for marking Hogmanay with greater enthusiasm and we are already looking forward to the 500-mile trip north for the next one. Neil and Tina Parsonson
