Hamper raffle boosts cancer care charity by £500
AN ACTIVE community member has raised £ 500 for Macmillan nurses this winter with her fifth hamper raffle.
Isobel MacPhee, 72, has been fundraising for the charity for five years now.
Speaking to The Oban Times Isobel said: ‘I fundraise every year for Macmillan nurses, raffling off a hamper, which usually has a bottle of alcohol, tinned goods, sweets. This year I got a bottle of whisky from John MacMillan the butcher and then I provide the rest.
‘I go round the community centres, pubs, the auction mart, anywhere I think people will buy tickets.
‘I get a lot of support from people in the area so I would like to thank all those who did buy tickets this year.’
Isobel said the nurses were ‘delighted’ to receive the generous cheque.
