Good crowd at accordion and fiddle club meeting

A GOOD crowd gathered at the Inveraray Inn for the December meeting of Inveraray and District Accordion and Fiddle Club.

Guest artistes were to have been the Donald MacLeod Trio but bandleader Donald fell victim to the dreaded ‘ lurgy’ so was unable to make it.

However his two accomplices, Nicky McMichan on accordion and Gus Millar on drums, didn’t let the club down, so the trio became a duo.

The faithful Fyne Folk got the evening under way with Sally Hall, Alex John MacLeod and Jake MacKay on fiddles and Agnes Liddell on keyboard with a couple of pipe marches and a lovely selection of Irish waltzes.

Jake and Agnes stayed on stage and Jake played his ‘moothie’ with some fine toe- tapping sets. It was then the turn of Nicky and Gus to finish off the first half with a fine selection of tunes.

Fyne Folk started off the second half and then Jake, Agnes, Nicky and Gus delighted the audience with a marvellous couple of sets – sounding just like another guest band. Nicky and Gus entertained for the rest of the evening and then Fyne Folk joined them in a wee stramash bringing the club to a close for 2016.

Next week, to see the New Year in, it’s the Archie MacAllister Trio – no strangers to the club – so a cracking night in store.
