Brave Laura ap­peals to Oban and Lorn com­mu­nity ahead of life­sav­ing trans­plant

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl from North Con­nel who suf­fers from leukaemia is ap­peal­ing for peo­ple to sign up to be­come a po­ten­tial life­saver.

Laura Camp­bell has been di­ag­nosed with the dis­ease for the third time in her young life. How­ever, the teenager is on a mis­sion to help as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble.

Laura, who is hop­ing to re­ceive a stem cell do­na­tion in Oc­to­ber, is urg­ing peo­ple to sign up to the An­thony Nolan stem cell reg­is­ter.

With the help of the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice (SFRS), Laura’s ap­peal will take place on Septem­ber 30. The day will start at Oban High School in the morn­ing, pro­vid­ing pupils with in­for­ma­tion and the op­por­tu­nity to join the reg­is­ter. From 4pm un­til 10pm, a drop-in clinic will be held at Oban Com­mu­nity Fire Sta­tion to al­low mem­bers of the pub­lic to do the same.
