Mull res­i­dents to be quizzed on new ferry ser­vice

IS­LAN­DERS will be quizzed on the im­pact of the Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment’s Road Equiv­a­lent Tar­iff (RET) and the in­crease of traf­fic to the is­land of Mull.

A ques­tion­naire will be made widely avail­able through­out the is­lands of Mull, Iona and Ulva ask­ing for views on the im­pact of the ser­vice.

Busi­nesses and res­i­dents are be­ing tar­geted in or­der that Mull Commu- nity Coun­cil can find out what peo­ple re­ally think about the new ser­vice, with the sur­vey cov­er­ing is­sues such as the length of the sea­son, the im­pact on the book­ings sys­tem and the shift in peo­ple trav­el­ling to the main­land more of­ten.

A meet­ing of Mull Com­mu­nity Coun­cil on Tues­day Jan­uary 10 heard that the ques­tion­naire was de­vel­oped with­out lead­ing ques­tions or bias.

The ques­tion­naire will be printed in full in the com­mu­nity news­let­ter Round and About, and will be made avail­able in var­i­ous lo­ca­tions through­out the is­land by the be­gin­ning of Fe­bru­ary.

Billy McC­ly­mont, chair­man of the com­mu­nity coun­cil, said: ‘This is a great op­por­tu­nity for peo­ple to have their say on the im­pact of the ferry ser­vice.’
