Men­tal health staff given spe­cial­ist train­ing

MEN­TAL health pro­fes­sion­als from across NHS High­land will at­tended spe­cial­ist train­ing this week.

The Decider skills train­ing pack­age was devel­oped by cog- ni­tive be­havioural ther­a­pists to im­prove com­mu­ni­ca­tion about emo­tions and self-man­age­ment be­tween pa­tients, fam­ily and staff.

Cog­ni­tive be­havioural thera- pists Michelle Ayres and Carol Vivyan, who devel­oped the pro­gramme, spent a week in In­ver­ness with more than 250 staff and vol­un­teers.

NHS High­land’s com­mu­nity men­tal health ser­vices man­ager, Michael Perera, said: ‘ We were de­lighted to wel­come the train­ers to NHS High­land, and the staff who at­tended gained a lot from the week.’
