Esmond wins Leanachan race
SOME 59 runners finished the Leanachan race on Sunday, a 9.5 mile long, going through Leanachan/ Nevis Range forestry tracks. This was the seventh race out of 10 that is in the calendar of Lochaber Winter League 2016/2017.
A long category race in which all the runners must wear or carry full body cover, waterproof top and bottoms, hat and gloves. It was a cold and cloudy day but everyone kept smiling before and after the race.
The men’s category was won by Esmond Tressider LAC in 01:00:27, 2nd place John Yells LAC in 01:01:12, 3rd crossed the finish line Steven Traill LAC in 01:01:42. In the women’s category 1st crossed the finish line Lisette Walter in 01:08:39, 2nd Helen Leggett LAC in 01:14:37 and 3rd Amanda Blackhall LAC in 01:14:53.
A spokesperson said: ‘ Well done to all that took part and massive thanks to organisers, Marshall’s and timekeepers, Margaret Rose, Corrina, Pamela, Aileen, Ellen, Sharon, Graham and others I may have missed.’
