FOR­GET about wait­ing on a glass slip­per, women are shat­ter­ing glass ceil­ings. In fact, new re­search by the Cen­tre for En­trepreneurs re­veals that fe­male ty­coons are twice as am­bi­tious as their male coun­ter­parts. They have nar­rowed the gen­der gap by six per cent since 2012 and are adding to the eco­nomic en­gine that is en­trepreneur­ship – this ac­cord­ing to a Global En­trepreneur­ship Mon­i­tor 2014 Women’s Re­port, which con­firms that more than 200 mil­lion women are start­ing or run­ning busi­nesses in 83 economies across the globe. An ad­di­tional 128 mil­lion are run­ning es­tab­lished busi­nesses. This week, we meet some of those women who are run­ning suc­cess­ful busi­nesses around Ar­gyll and Lochaber.
