New job is created on Mull
MULL and Iona Community Trust is creating a new post for a deputy general manager in response to an increasing workload.
Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT) was established in 1997 and is based at a purpose-built community hub in Craignure.
Its projects include recycling, countryside ranger services, improving broadband, renewable energy, housing, training and capacity building.
With a volunteer board of directors, the work of the trust continues to evolve and expand and now needs a deputy general manager.
MICT currently employs more than 20 full-time and part-time staff, and is a major year-round employer on the island, with the specific mission of ‘enhancing the quality of life on Mull and Iona’.
The role, initially part-time, will allow the trust to develop new projects and to sustain existing ones.
Sandy Brunton, convener, said: ‘This is an exciting time for communities in Scotland with real opportunities to take on more responsibilities and control, in terms of assets and services.
‘The board has been considering this for some time now and has managed to find some funds to allow us to recruit to this new post.’
