The Pier­house Ho­tel and Seafood Restau­rant nes­tled on the shores of Loch Linnhe in Port Ap­pin has won three pres­ti­gious awards at the Ar­gyll and Lomond Re­gional stage of the 2017 Scot­tish Ho­tel Awards.

The awards in­clude Small Coun­try Ho­tel of the Year, Fam­ily Ho­tel of the Year and Bar Din­ing Ho­tel of the Year. Three mem­bers of the Pier­house Ho­tel team also re­ceived ‘Peo­ple of Ex­cel­lence’ awards for their ‘pas­sion, drive, care and com­mit­ment’. They are:

Laura Milne – Ho­tel Chef of the Year, Ar­gyll & Lomond

Laura has built a su­perb team to cre­ate a happy, pos­i­tive, cre­ative kitchen. Laura’s cook­ing is tra­di­tional Scot­tish with a modern twist, util­is­ing fresh, lo­cally sourced & for­aged, sea­sonal in­gre­di­ents wher­ever pos­si­ble. As Laura ex­plains: ‘ The Pier­house is per­fectly placed to make full use of an in­cred­i­ble range of sus­tain­able fresh fish and seafood fished straight from lo­cal wa­ters. Each dish is sim­ply cooked to let the food speak for it­self.’

Sergejs Sav­ickis – Ho­tel Sous Chef of the Year, Ar­gyll & Lomond

Sergejs loves the West Coast and has a real pas­sion for lo­cally sourced, sus­tain­able seafood. For Sergejs, it is fan­tas­tic to have di­rect con­tact with a lo­cal prawn fish­er­man and oys­ter farmer who are right on our doorstep – guar­an­tee­ing the qual­ity and prove­nance of the pro­duce.

Janette Jack – House­keeper of the Year, Ar­gyll & Lomond.

Janette, who lives on the isle of Lis­more, has trav­elled to work at the ho­tel by ferry for the past seven years. At­ten­tion to de­tail, thor­ough­ness and ef­fi­ciency are Janette’s hall­mark. Co­or­di­nat­ing a team of house­keep­ers is cru­cial in a ho­tel with con­sis­tently high an­nual oc­cu­pancy rates – Janette achieves this with max­i­mum ef­fec­tive­ness aided by a fan­tas­tic sense of hu­mour. Laura, Sergejs and Janette are now short­listed for the na­tional fi­nals in April.
