The Pierhouse Hotel & Seafood Restaurant - Port Appin
AWARD WINNERS FOR ARGYLL & LOMOND REGION
The Pierhouse Hotel and Seafood Restaurant nestled on the shores of Loch Linnhe in Port Appin has won three prestigious awards at the Argyll and Lomond Regional stage of the 2017 Scottish Hotel Awards.
The awards include Small Country Hotel of the Year, Family Hotel of the Year and Bar Dining Hotel of the Year. Three members of the Pierhouse Hotel team also received ‘People of Excellence’ awards for their ‘passion, drive, care and commitment’. They are:
Laura Milne – Hotel Chef of the Year, Argyll & Lomond
Laura has built a superb team to create a happy, positive, creative kitchen. Laura’s cooking is traditional Scottish with a modern twist, utilising fresh, locally sourced & foraged, seasonal ingredients wherever possible. As Laura explains: ‘ The Pierhouse is perfectly placed to make full use of an incredible range of sustainable fresh fish and seafood fished straight from local waters. Each dish is simply cooked to let the food speak for itself.’
Sergejs Savickis – Hotel Sous Chef of the Year, Argyll & Lomond
Sergejs loves the West Coast and has a real passion for locally sourced, sustainable seafood. For Sergejs, it is fantastic to have direct contact with a local prawn fisherman and oyster farmer who are right on our doorstep – guaranteeing the quality and provenance of the produce.
Janette Jack – Housekeeper of the Year, Argyll & Lomond.
Janette, who lives on the isle of Lismore, has travelled to work at the hotel by ferry for the past seven years. Attention to detail, thoroughness and efficiency are Janette’s hallmark. Coordinating a team of housekeepers is crucial in a hotel with consistently high annual occupancy rates – Janette achieves this with maximum effectiveness aided by a fantastic sense of humour. Laura, Sergejs and Janette are now shortlisted for the national finals in April.
