Dol­phins hold time tri­als

IT WAS all about new records and per­sonal bests at the Dol­phins’ first time tri­als of 2017.

Held at MacPool, Lochgilp­head, re­cently, the tri­als fea­tured 40m freestyle, back­crawl, breast­stroke and but­ter­fly swims and 100m in­di­vid­ual med­ley swims.

The ju­nior group clocked up 80 per cent per­sonal best swim times, with Cara Banaghan and Tom West achiev­ing five per­sonal bests each.

While the se­nior group fin­ished with 50 per cent per­sonal best swims, Abi Gre­gory, Ellen Moir, Han­nah Young and John­nie Neville also made five per­sonal best times. New club records were set on the day by Ruth Neville in the 10/11 years in­di­vid­ual med­ley, Ian Munro in the 14 years and above but­ter­fly, and Me­gan Dan­son in the 14 years and above 100m in­di­vid­ual med­ley record and the 40m breast­stroke record that has been held since 2015.

The cur­rent fastest swim­mers in the club are: Ian Munro – 29.09 sec­onds for but­ter­fly; Ruby Bo­som­worth – 31.24 sec­onds for back­crawl; Me­gan Dan­son – 34.29 sec­onds for breast­stroke and 100m in­di­vid­ual med­ley; and the fastest swim­mer through the wa­ter is Al­fie Smith 25.12 sec­onds freestyle.
