Dou­ble de­feat on the road for Fort Wil­liam

FORT WIL­LIAM trav­elled up the A82 last Wed­nes­day to In­ver­ness to face an in-form Clach­nacud­din team in the first round of the Bree­don Ag­gre­gates High­land League Cup.

De­spite a dou­ble from top scorer Scot­tie David­son, tak­ing his tally for the sea­son so far to an im­pres­sive 16 goals, it was the home side who ran out com­fort­able and con­vinc­ing 6-2 win­ners.

Fort’s on-loan Ca­ley This­tle de­fender Ally Stark was sent off af­ter re­ceiv­ing two yel­low cards.

A spokesper­son for the club said: ‘This match summed up the Fort’s sea­son. You lose count of the num­ber of matches they have taken the lead only for it to be fol­lowed up by a de­fen­sive col­lapse.’

On Satur­day, Fort Wil­liam trav­elled to Aberdeen­shire o take on Tur­riff United with­out top scorer David­son, who was out in­jured, and on-loan Ca­ley This­tle goal­keeper Stephen Foster came into make his first High­land League start.

De­spite a good start from the Fort, three goals in quick suc­ces­sions be­fore half-time put paid to their chances, and, with the home side adding one more in the sec­ond half, it made the fi­nal score Tur­riff United 4, Fort Wil­liam 0.

The Fort will be hop­ing to pick up full points when they host Rothes this Satur­day at Clag­gan Park with a 3pm kick off.
