Music, songs and magic at final Taynuilt ceilidh
AT THE final Taynuilt ceilidh of the winter series the audience was treated to an enjoyable selection of music, singing, jokes... even magic tricks !
Some stirring tunes were provided by young piper Calum Garvin, while his parents, Joanie and Michael Garvin played some fantastic sets of tunes on the fiddle and accordion.
Singing was provided by four soloists who all gave excellent performances. The soloists taking part were Clare MacAuley ( Traditional Gold Medalist), Alasdair Currie (Gold Medal finalist), Duncan MacDonald (Gold Medalist) and Morag Smith.
Fear an Taighe for the evening was the popular Donnie ‘Maroot’ MacLeod who kept proceedings flowing smoothly with a huge repertoire of jokes.
To the amazement of everyone, Donnie also performed a number of magic tricks – which may well have been a first for the Taynuilt ceilidh.
