Fort company holds charity day for Barnardo’s

-

THE FORT William branch of Jewson held a charity day last Friday to raise money for Barnardo’s.

On Tuesday March 21 the amount raised totalled £ 376 with more still to come in. Manager Brian MacInnes told The Oban

Times he thinks they will have about £ 500 by the time all the collection buckets are counted.

All the staff at the branch got involved with the event, making homebaking to sell and helping to decorate the office with balloons and banners for the day.

Jewson’s partner up with a chosen charity every year and this year they chose Barnardo’s.

Mr MacInnes said: ‘I set myself a personal target of £ 500 so I’ll be very happy if we reach that. We got our wives and girlfriends involved with the home baking and the local golf club and hairdressers donated wine and other raffle prizes. There was a huge amount of both staff and community participation in the day. We had customers coming in and our suppliers, too, and a representative form Barnardo’s in Fort William. We will be handing over the money once it has all been counted and it will go to the Fort William branch of the charity to help local people.’

More than 80 tickets were sold for the raffle on the day, but Mr MacInnes is keeping the raffle going for another few weeks. Top prizes include £100 of Love to Shop vouchers, so head over to Jewson to buy a ticket.
