Boys’ Brigade pair get royal seal of ap­proval at an­nual awards night

TWO MEM­BERS of the 2nd Fort Wil­liam Boys’ Brigade Com­pany were awarded the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s top ac­co­lade at the group’s an­nual par­ents night and awards cer­e­mony in Dun­cans­burgh Mac­in­tosh Church Hall last Fri­day night.

Ewan MacGre­gor and Roddy MacLeod were awarded the Queen’s Badge, com­plete with cer­tifi­cate signed by HM The Queen.

Dur­ing the event the boys demon­strated march­ing and other skills learned over the last ses­sion and out­lined the many projects they had un­der­taken. In­spect­ing of­fi­cer was Fa­ther Roddy MacAu­ley from St John’s, Caol, who along with com­pany chap­lain Rev Richard Bax­ter praised them on their smart turnout and ex­em­plary con­duct.

Awards were pre­sented to recog­nise ex­cep­tional work, in­clud­ing four Pres­i­dent’s Badges and two of the ul­ti­mate ac­co­lade, the Queen’s Badge, com­plete with cer­tifi­cate signed by HM The Queen. Kieran Boyd, above, re­ceived per­fect at­ten­dance and best An­chor Boy in his sec­tion and was also pro­moted to the Ju­nior Sec­tion.

1st Bri­er­ley Hill Tro­phy, pre­sented to the boy who, in the opin­ion of the drill of­fi­cer, has shown most im­prove­ment in his drill over the year, Pri­vate Max Fox- Gillies.

The Dun­cans­burgh Cup, pre­sented to the com­pany by mem­bers of the Kirk Ses­sion for Chris­tian En­deav­our in and out of com­pany meet­ing times, Pri­vate Jack O’Neill.

The Jim Rodger Tro­phy, Best All-round Boy in badge work, at­ten­dance and en­thu­si­asm, Pri­vate Nathan John­ston.

The Se­niors Tro­phy, pre­sented to se­nior boys of 15 years and over who have com­pleted the Boys’ Brigade award scheme and who are work­ing for the Queen’s Badge, Sergeant Ewan MacGre­gor.
