Call to pupils to design helmet
PRIMARY school-aged children across Scotland are being encouraged to be creative and enter a bicycle helmet design competition.
Fuchs Silkolene has teamed up with children’s safety charity Cycle- Smart to launch the contest.
The winner will have their design made into a real helmet which they can keep.
They will also have five-times British and European Trials Champion Danny Butler’s Extreme Mountain Bike Show team visit their school or club to perform a fantastic BMX show.
Added to this, there will be prizes for second and third place, including a cycle safety talk from Cycle- Smart.
Sally Travis, marketing manager at Fuchs, said: ‘ For the second year running we are holding the Tour of the Potteries cycle ride, setting off from the Fuchs Silkolene headquarters in Stoke- onTrent on June 25.
‘As part of this event we are proud to launch the Design a Cycling Helmet competition in conjunction with Cycle- Smart.
‘ Danny Butler and his team put on a fantastic show, so that is an amazing prize for the winner. We’ll also have goodies for the runners-up.’
To enter, visit: www. silkolene. com/ potteries- competition/ to download a helmet template. Children can use any materials they wish to make their design stand out but all entries must be received by Friday April 28.
