Top five fin­ish for Lochaber cyclists

A FORT Wil­liam school fin­ished near the top of Scot­land’s Big Pedal 2017 leader board.

The event, or­gan­ised by Sus­trans, took place over 10 days in March, with schools par­tic­i­pat­ing in dif­fer­ent ways.

Ne­vis Cy­cles do­nated a spe­cialised bike to Lochaber High School’s Ragh­nall MacK­in­non who cy­cled to school twice from Bo­huntin – a jour­ney which took him and his younger brother 1.5 hours to com­plete.

Over the course of the fort­night, Lochaber High School pupils made 460 jour­neys to school, cov­er­ing a to­tal dis­tance of 1,050 miles.

At the end of the project, Lochaber High School fin­ished fourth in Scot­land and 25th in Bri­tain.
