A RE­FUR­BISHED lodge on the shores of Loch Gair­loch has opened a new cen­tre in the hope of keep­ing the me­dieval arts of archery and fal­conry alive.

Shiel­d­aig Lodge launched its new fal­conry and archery cen­tre, Shiel­d­aig Fal­conry, ear­lier this month. The cen­tre fea­tures a wide va­ri­ety of birds of prey in­clud­ing, fal­cons, hawks, buz­zards, ea­gles and owls, and of­fers archery pro­grammes for begin­ners.

Gen­eral man­ager Is­mit An­tepli said: ‘Shiel­d­aig Lodge is a beau­ti­ful set­ting for learn­ing fal­conry and archery. We hope lo­cals and vis­i­tors will en­joy the spe­cial ex­pe­ri­ence of fly­ing these birds.’

The cen­tre will fo­cus on de­vel­op­ing solid archery and fal­conry fun­da­men­tals.
