Bal­lachul­ish win dodge­ball fes­ti­val

A TEAM of pupils from Bal­lachul­ish Pri­mary School have won the 10th South Lochaber Pri­mary Schools Dodge­ball Fes­ti­val.

Or­gan­ised by High Life High­land’s Ac­tive Schools co­or­di­na­tors, Kim Boa and Jane Bruce, the friendly event is al­ways fiercely con­tested.

Forty- eight pupils took part in the com­pe­ti­tion on Tues­day April 4 from Bal­lachul­ish, Kin­lochleven, Duror, Glen­coe and St Brides pri­mary schools, with teams of six chil­dren, from P4-P7 who will com­peted for the top spot.

It was a close-run match but in first place was Bal­lachul­ish Yel­low, sec­ond were Glen­coe Pri­mary School, third were Kin­lochleven Pri­mary, fourth Bal­lachul­ish Green, fifth St Brides, sixth was a tie with Bal­lachul­ish Red and Bal­lachul­ish Blue, sev­enth were Duror Pri­mary School.

A spokesper­son said: ‘ Thanks to the vol­un­teer stu­dents, par­ents and teach­ers who have been run­ning prac­tice ses­sions in each school in prepa­ra­tion for this.’

The dodge­ball com­pe­ti­tion is part of the wider Lochaber Ac­tive Schools PE pro­gramme of fes­ti­vals, with the aim of en­cour­ag­ing chil­dren to try and take part in a range of dif­fer­ent sports and ac­tiv­i­ties.

Bal­lachul­ish, Kin­lochleven, Duror, Glen­coe and St Brides pri­mary schools all en­tered.
