Market adds colour to Oban town centre

THE first of six markets organised by BID4Oban on behalf of its levy payers and to add a bit of colour to the town was held on Saturday April 8.

For a first market and the week before Easter, the attendance was fantastic. ‘A well-run market should not detract or compete with the businesses in town. Rather it should augment them and create additional footfall in the town for everyone’s benefit,’ said Derek Connery, of BID4Oban. ‘The market came into being as a result of a local business’s request, and their hard work to encourage and support attendance. This is a great example of a BID working together with its levy payers for the benefit of all.’

There will monthly markets from now until September with the next one being May 27, and there are discussions about extending this to night-time markets in July and August.
