Big Spring Clean, hanging baskets and Fort community hub update

FORT William Town Team held its April meeting on Monday April 10.

Matters discussed included plans for the upcoming Big Spring Clean on Sunday May 7, meeting at the Hub on the parade at 2pm.

It is hoped that, depending on volunteer numbers, they will sweep the Promenade, wash down bins, street furniture and signs and spray weedkiller on the High Street.

There was also an update on this year’s hanging basket sponsorship. Sixty baskets are now paid for but the Town Team hopes to reach last year’s total of 78. Anyone wanting to sponsor a basket should contact jackie@huntingtowerlodge. com.

There was also an update on the new community hub on the parade. The outside has now been painted, as have the flower boxes. The floor has been varnished, shelves built and the toolshare tools have been hung on hooks. There are also a table and chairs and a notice board for the side of the hub.

Anyone wishing to use the hub for a not-for-profit group or charity event should contact the Town Team.

The next meeting will be on Monday May 8 at 7pm in Lochaber House.
