The Oban Times - - News -

I live in Oban and in the ward with my wife and family and have been actively involved in youth work in the Oban area. Part of that has been coaching several youth football teams from primary school age to under-19 level since 2000.

I have also worked as a youth worker in Oban’s local youth café.

Currently, I am the chairman of Oban’s successful community radio station, Oban FM, and present three programmes every week.

Working closely with young people over the years, I have been hugely impressed by the wide range of skills they display and I believe we have a vast untapped resource on our doorstep – our people.

We now have a fantastic opportunity to develop a strong vibrant community by utilising this potential and the experience we have in abundance across Oban South and the Isles.

To do this we must reconnect positively with all our communities in an open and honest way to provide workable local solutions to local issues.

We must also work proactively with local groups to inform future plans and represent their views and the views of our communities.
