Oban star makes de­but on TV soap

ARGYLL ac­tor Don­nie Bax­ter made his de­but in Ozzie soap

Neigh­bours on Mon­day. The Oban-born 33-year- old ac­tor and model, who trav­elled to Australia in 2007 and now lives in Brisbane, Queens­land, is play­ing the char­ac­ter Roger Cross in his first episode of the long-run­ning soap opera.

The daily drama, which screens on Chan­nel 5 and is set in the fic­tional cul- de-sac of Ram­say Street in Erins­burgh, has given a big break to many ac­tors in its 32-year his­tory, in­clud­ing Kylie Minogue and Rus­sell Crowe.

Don­nie’s friends are also ex­pect­ing great things, fol­low­ing his many other roles across TV, film and the­atre, such as Macbeth, The 39 Steps, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Thor: Rag­narok and Pi­rates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

One mate, look­ing for­ward to a‘ Neigh­bours binge’, ex­claimed: ‘Next stop Tin­sel Town.’ Oth­ers, con­grat­u­lat­ing the ‘tal­ented’, ‘hi­lar­i­ous’ and ‘awe­some guy’ on his first Neigh­bours episode, ad­vised view­ers: ‘You can’t miss him, he is the one with the Scot­tish ac­cent.’
