AN ‘ INCREDIBLE’ four Tiree High School pupils have been shortlisted for the Edinburgh Festival Schools Poster competition.

To celebrate the Fringe’s 70th anniversary, Scotland’s young people will inspire the design of the official Fringe programme, printed into 395,000 copies and distributed to 44 countries.

Congratulating the pupils, art teacher Shona Johnston said: ‘This is a prestigious and fiercely competitive open project which is given out to all Scottish schools with an average annual entry figure of 6,000 plus.

‘The shortlist is whittled down to approximately 150 designs which will be displayed throughout the summer from June 6 in Dy- namic Earth, Edinburgh, where millions of visitors will view their submissions. You can also view them online from the middle of May when the Edinburgh Festival site goes live.

‘To give a sense of perspective on how amazing their win is, in 25 years of teaching I have had four pupils shortlisted so to have four winners in one year from our tiny school is nothing short of incredible.’
