Caol gala day boost

The Oban Times - - News -

ORGANISERS of Caol Gala Day have a plan to ease their burden and raise cash for others.

This year’s event, which is self-funded with the profits being reinvested for the next year, takes place on June 24.

Kirsty Kyle, treasurer of Caol Community Council (CCC), who leads the fundraising efforts, has already raised the £6,000 required for the day.

Alongside Kirsty, a small, hardworking committee is responsible for organising food, entertainment, stalls and ensuring everything goes as smoothly as possible on the day.

Jane Young, chairperson for CCC, explained at the council’s meeting on May 8 that organising and manning the stalls can be a struggle due to a lack of volunteers. Mrs Young suggested CCC reach out to schools, charities and organisations to invite them to host a stall.

‘This is an opportunity for them to raise money for their own community or project.’
