THE TRADITIONA­L Music and Song Associatio­n of Scotland will present the finalists of the 2016 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditiona­l Musician of the year award at the Nevis Centre on Wednesday June 7.

The tour visits the home town of each finalist, Fort William being home to fiddler Hanna MacRae. Moshen Amini, concertina and 2016 winner, Claire Hastings, voice and 2015 winner, Murray Willis, accordion, Jessica Burton, clarsach, Ryan Young, fiddle, and Robbie Greig, fiddle, will also perform, accompanie­d by Jean Damei. Doors open at 7.30pm. A RACE night and raffle in aid of Caol-based Lochaber Sensory Care will take place tomorrow (Friday May 19) in the Volunteer Arms, Fort William, at 7.30pm.

LSC representa­tives will be visiting Morvern Medical Practice, Lochaline, on Tuesday May 23 from 10.30am til 12.30pm to offer support and advice to those living locally with sight or hearing loss. They will also supply NHS hearing aid batteries, re-tube and maintain the hearing aids and help with any other difficulti­es. No appointmen­t required. LOCHABER Rugby Club’s annual general meeting will be held in the clubhouse at Banavie on Thursday May 25 at 7pm. A good turnout by club members would be appreciate­d. The club’s end of season awards (Smoker) is on Saturday (May 20) at 7pm. KILMALLIE Singers will present their spring concert this Saturday in Duncansbur­gh MacIntosh Church from 7.30pm. Tickets on the door.
