THE TRA­DI­TIONAL Mu­sic and Song As­so­ci­a­tion of Scot­land will present the fi­nal­ists of the 2016 BBC Ra­dio Scot­land Young Tra­di­tional Mu­si­cian of the year award at the Ne­vis Cen­tre on Wed­nes­day June 7.

The tour vis­its the home town of each fi­nal­ist, Fort Wil­liam be­ing home to fid­dler Hanna MacRae. Moshen Amini, con­certina and 2016 win­ner, Claire Hast­ings, voice and 2015 win­ner, Mur­ray Wil­lis, ac­cor­dion, Jes­sica Bur­ton, clarsach, Ryan Young, fid­dle, and Rob­bie Greig, fid­dle, will also per­form, ac­com­pa­nied by Jean Damei. Doors open at 7.30pm. A RACE night and raf­fle in aid of Caol-based Lochaber Sen­sory Care will take place to­mor­row (Fri­day May 19) in the Vol­un­teer Arms, Fort Wil­liam, at 7.30pm.

LSC rep­re­sen­ta­tives will be vis­it­ing Morvern Med­i­cal Prac­tice, Locha­line, on Tues­day May 23 from 10.30am til 12.30pm to of­fer sup­port and ad­vice to those liv­ing lo­cally with sight or hear­ing loss. They will also sup­ply NHS hear­ing aid bat­ter­ies, re-tube and main­tain the hear­ing aids and help with any other dif­fi­cul­ties. No ap­point­ment re­quired. LOCHABER Rugby Club’s an­nual gen­eral meet­ing will be held in the club­house at Banavie on Thurs­day May 25 at 7pm. A good turnout by club mem­bers would be ap­pre­ci­ated. The club’s end of sea­son awards (Smoker) is on Satur­day (May 20) at 7pm. KIL­MALLIE Singers will present their spring con­cert this Satur­day in Dun­cans­burgh Mac­In­tosh Church from 7.30pm.
