Sports day fun for St Columba’s pupils
PUPILS from Oban’s St Columba’s Primary School enjoyed a fun and action-packed sports day on Friday May 19 at Mossfield Stadium.
The children were piped into the ground by Oban High School Pipe Band and did a lap of the track in their clans.
They wore their clan colours of Iona, Gartan, Derry and Clonard, with colourful painted faces and hairstyles on display.
The starting event was the inter-school mile race which resulted in St Columba’s retaining the winning shield. Well done to the winning team of Callie Campbell, Natalie Lopez, Charlie MacKenzie and Daniel Beaton, and everyone who took part in the event.
Children took part in various events with younger pupils enjoying the hoop, jumping and running races, while the older ones had great fun with the three-legged, wheel barrow and skipping races.
There was a great turn out of spectators and the day ended with the pre-school race with lots of little ones enjoying taking part. An ice lolly was a great treat to cool everyone down at the end.
The school thanks everyone who helped make it a success and well done to everyone for taking part.
