LOCHALSH youngsters beat off stiff competition to secure a third win at the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships.

The Lochalsh junior pipe band, made up of pupils from Plockton High and Auchtertyre primary schools, travelled to Edinburgh to take part in the competition which they have won the last three years.

The pupils found out the results on the long bus journey home from Edinburgh.

The band will now ompete in the novice juvenile B section at some of the major Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association championships this summer. As well as the competitions, the band have been asked to play at the MacTavish and Camanachd shinty cup finals at Bught Park, Inverness.
