THE 2017 opens sea­son at Dal­mally Golf Club got off to a great start with the 14th se­niors open on played on Wed­nes­day May 17.

Forty- eight play­ers were wel­comed to the course, which was in very good con­di­tion de­spite heavy rain the pre­ced­ing two days.

Home play­ers did well but vis­i­tors from 11 cour­ses, from as far afield as Cal­lan­der, Hil­ton Park and Machri­han­ish, notched up some im­pres­sive scores.

Gents: 1 Ewan Groat (Dal­mally) 38pts; 2 Jim Car­ruthers (Kyles of Bute) 37pts (bih); 3 John Ni­chol­son (Dum­bar­ton) 37pts.

Ladies: 1 Janet Buchanan (Dal­mally) 34pts; 2 June Suther­land (Dal­mally) 32pts; 3 Lily McKay (Dal­mally) 31pts.

Cat­e­gory B: Al­lan McHen­ery (Killin) 29pts; Wilma Frew (Glen­cruit­ten) 30pts.
