THE 2017 opens season at Dalmally Golf Club got off to a great start with the 14th seniors open on played on Wednesday May 17.

Forty- eight players were welcomed to the course, which was in very good condition despite heavy rain the preceding two days.

Home players did well but visitors from 11 courses, from as far afield as Callander, Hilton Park and Machrihanish, notched up some impressive scores.

Gents: 1 Ewan Groat (Dalmally) 38pts; 2 Jim Carruthers (Kyles of Bute) 37pts (bih); 3 John Nicholson (Dumbarton) 37pts.

Ladies: 1 Janet Buchanan (Dalmally) 34pts; 2 June Sutherland (Dalmally) 32pts; 3 Lily McKay (Dalmally) 31pts.

Category B: Allan McHenery (Killin) 29pts; Wilma Frew (Glencruitten) 30pts.

Nearest the pin: Jim Livingstone (Dalmally) 1.93; Gina Coleman (Dumbarton) 5.5.
