De­fib­ril­la­tor to be in­stalled in phone box

NETHER Lochaber Com­mu­nity Coun­cil has se­cured funds for a com­mu­nity de­fib­ril­la­tor.

Fol­low­ing do­na­tions from busi­nesses and sup­port from the Clachaig Inn, which raised £2,010.60 for South Lochaber de­fib­ril­la­tor projects through its Fe­bru­aryFest raf­fle, the equip­ment has been or­dered.

The Onich de­fib­ril­la­tor will be fit­ted into a re­fur­bished an­tique phone box.

In Glen­coe, a de­fib­ril­la­tor has been fit­ted out­side the am­bu­lance sta­tion and in Bal­lachul­ish one has been in­stalled at the med­i­cal cen­tre.

A com­mu­nity coun­cil spokesman said: ‘We are de­lighted our plan to raise funds to site a de­fib­ril­la­tor in Nether Lochaber has been suc­cess­ful. Thanks to in­cred­i­ble gen­eros­ity, we have ex­ceeded our tar­get mean­ing we have main­te­nance money avail­able.

‘Cour­ses on how to use the de­fib­ril­la­tors will be held soon. Keep watch­ing for posters and Face­book posts.’
