Rugby youth sec­tion holds suc­cess­ful tour­na­ment

LOCHABER Rugby Club youth sec­tion hosted an end- of-sea­son seven-a-side and 12-a-side tour­na­ment at Banavie at the week­end.

De­scended

Teams com­ing from Caith­ness and Ross Suther­land de­scended on Fort Wil­liam on Satur­day (May 27) to com­pete.

Play­ers com­peted in the S1/S2 age group and also the un­der-17 teams, Ross Suther­land fin­ish­ing wor­thy win­ners in both age groups.

A spe­cial men­tion to John Clark and An­gus Moss, two young Lochaber play­ers who have come up through the mi­nis to play their fi­nal game for Lochaber be­fore mov­ing to pas­tures new next sea­son.

A spokesper­son for the rugby club said: ‘Some re­ally en­ter­tain­ing rugby was played with all teams giv­ing a good ac­count of them­selves.

Fu­ture

‘And we wish John and An­gus all the best in their fu­ture play­ing ca­reers.

‘The S1/S2 and our U17 teams en­joyed an end- of-sea­son din­ner and awards cer­e­mony fol­low­ing their seven-a-side and 12-a-side matches against Caith­ness and Ross Suther­land.’

At the awards cer­e­mony Fraser Davis was crowned S1/S2 player of the year and Jack Hamil­ton took home the award for S3/S4 player of the year.
