Angus McCormack writes with sadness

The Oban Times - - News -

Dear Annag [head teacher Castlebay Community School), staff and pupils,

It was with such deep sadness that I heard of the passing of your pupil and friend, Eilidh, following the terrible events in Manchester.

It may be of little consolation at this time but I felt that it was important to let you know that this tragic and needless loss of life is profoundly felt by all throughout our islands, the country and indeed, beyond these shores.

Words alone cannot convey the grief and sorrow we are all experiencing, but I know that for you, the feelings and emotions will be far more intense. I can only say that I and my colleagues are grieving with you.

I know, too, that you are thinking of Laura and we all dearly hope that she can make a full recovery and that she will come home to be with her family and friends again in the near future. Indeed our thoughts are very much centred on the friends and family of both these young girls.

Yours is a strong community and while these are dark times, I know that you will support and help each other in the days, weeks and months ahead. I wish you well. Angus McCormack Chairman, Education Sport and Children’s Services Committee
