A PRIVATE garden in Port Appin was recently opened to the public, raising more than £1,000 for charity.
Owners of Dalnashean, Allister and Kathleen Ferguson, were taking part in the Scotland’s Gardens scheme and welcomed visitors on May 13 and 14 to view the gardens and buy crafts made by Allister.
Around £600 of the money raised will go to the charities supported by Scotland’s Gardens, which raises funds for charities by organising garden open days throughout Scotland.
The remaining funds raised from the Dalnashean open day will go to Appin Parish Church. PEOPLE of all levels of fitness are being encouraged to join a sponsored walk from Appin Parish Church to Creagan in aid of church funds.
The walk on June 24 will go along the cycle track and will be split into sections for those who don’t feel they can manage the full distance.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact Margaret Ross, Appin, for a sponsor form.
