The Oban Times - - Election Special -

The UK is being led into a hard Brexit by the Tory government and that is why it is so important that there is a strong voice in opposition. Only by returning SNP MPs will Scotland have the voice it needs at this time.

Brexit and leaving the single market will provide huge challenges, and perhaps opportunities, across the country in the years to come. Theresa May knows that any Brexit deal she makes will not have market access as good as we currently have, and meat and fish exports could face substantial tariffs to get to market.

In 2014, Scotland was told to vote no to stay in the EU so the result of 2014 has been changed utterly. The second independence referendum can be seen as a lifeboat for Scotland, a way for us to prosper like Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark with double to four times the growth of the UK. Some of these countries are in the EU, some are out but all are in the single market.

I would advise people to vote for independence when the opportunity comes.

If people do indeed want to go down with the ship, they are free to vote no when the time comes but they shouldn’t be against the Scottish people being given the choice, as the implications of Brexit will be great.

It is key that the people of Scotland are able to have a say on what future they face.

I would continue to be part of a strong opposition and will work hard to hold the UK government to account and to speak up for Scotland.
