Charged over li­brary in­ci­dent

A 26-YEAR- OLD man has been charged in con­nec­tion with an in­ci­dent last Thurs­day which saw Fort Wil­liam li­brary cor­doned off af­ter re­ports of a gun­man.

Po­lice of­fi­cers and am­bu­lances were dis­patched to the High Street just af­ter 10am and the li­brary was evac­u­ated.

A plas­tic BB gun was re­cov­ered from the scene.

Michael Kucera, of no fixed ad­dress, ap­peared in pri­vate on pe­ti­tion in Fort Wil­liam Sher­iff Court on Fri­day May 26 charged with theft by ship­break­ing and open­ing a lock­fast place, and two counts of breach of the peace. Kucera en­tered no plea and was com­mit­ted for fur­ther ex­am­i­na­tion. He was re­manded in cus­tody.

A po­lice spokesper­son said: ‘Po­lice Scot­land can con­firm that a 26-year old-man has now been ar­rested and charged in re­la­tion to an in­ci­dent at the li­brary in Fort Wil­liam on Thurs­day May 25.’
