JOIN in and help Nether Lochaber community be a better place to live, work and visit. The next Nether Lochaber Community Association event is Sunday June 4, with plans to clean up more of the shoreline – this time at Onich. There are also more flower tubs and planters to place around the area, fill and plant.
After the hard work, volunteers will be rewarded with a barbecue or refreshments at the village hall. All welcome. Come for the day or just an hour or two. Meet at Onich Village Hall at 10am.
THE Lochaber and District Canine Society dog show will be held on July 4 at the Nevis Centre. This year’s chosen charity for the event is Canine Partners. Entry is £1.50 a class, with rosettes awarded to fourth place and trophies for first. Competitions in the pedigree classes will include puppy, junior, gun dog and novelty classes hosting crossbreed, waggiest tail, best condition and much more. LOCHABER Schools Pipe Band and friends will be in concert at Lochaber High School on Wednesday June 7 at 7pm, with special guests the Lochaber Gaelic Choir. Tickets are £5 for adults and £2 for children, with tea and coffee included. Tickets can be bought from Lochaber High School and band members.
LOCHABER Environmental Group has teamed up with Off Beat Bikes to offer a free two-hour workshop on bike maintenance and repair on Tuesday June 13 from 7pm to 9pm at its store on the High Street. Take your bike along.
THE Kilmallie Community Centre is hosting another community gardens clean-up. The group is calling for gardeners and volunteers to help with the restoration of the site. The clean-up will start at 10am on Saturday June 17. For more information, contact Sarah Kennedy on 07768 805040.
BALLACHULISH Community Association is hosting a cuppa and a cupcake day on Friday June 16. The event is in aid of Alzheimer Research Scotland. Entry to the Ballachulish Village Hall event will be £2, and it starts at 11am to 3pm. There will be a raffle and music.
ART LOCHABER is gearing up to host its annual exhibition. The art will be on show at Ben Nevis Distillery until Wednesday June 7, from 10am to 6pm. Entry is free.
